The Writing Process – How To Write Better Articles

Write Better Articles

No one writes a perfect a piece of writing the first attempt. That’s why it is highly advisable to follow the writing process. The process consists of six steps that will be of great use to end up having a coherent and well elaborated paragraph or article. Only then the writer make sure that the targeted audience or readers will get the message.
Before starting with the steps you should first read the topic carefully and point out the key words.
Note: not getting the main idea of the topic and the type of writing, it would be useless to adhere to this process.

Step 1 : Generating Ideas:

To think about all possible words or ideas related to the topic. This stage is also known as pre-writing.
In this step the writer should think about what he / she wants to convey.

There are two techniques used to reach this goal:

  • Brainstorming: write down any words related to the given topic.
  • Diagrams: spidergram, flow charts…

Step 2: Organising The Generated Ideas:

After generating a number of ideas, you will organise them in order of importance and how convincing the arguments are.

This is the first attempt or drafting where mistakes are tolerated. And thus creating a rough copy of your writing.

Step 4: Peer Review :

You ask a friend for his or her feedback. You would exchange the pieces of writing if the task is carried in the classroom.

Step 5: Editing / Revising :

After getting your draft back, you proofread your writing based on your peers’ feedback. Make sure you have complete sentences, correct spelling, and necessary capitalization and punctuation. You need to make the necessary modifications.

Step 6: Writing The Final Draft:

You will create a clean draft.
  •   Make sure you observe paragraphs indentations,
  •   Select a suitable title.
And finally that’s it you got a coherent neat piece of writing. The steps seems lengthy at the beginning however, with a bit of practice things will be easier.
